For the second year in a row, Rain Bird Corporation, a leading global irrigation technology company and provider of irrigation products and services, has won the Irrigation Association’s New Product Contest, announced today at the annual Irrigation Association Show in San Antonio.
The winning product, Rain Bird’s FG100 Flow Sensor, was designed to bring the advantages of flow sensing to the residential and light commercial market, making the Intelligent Use of WaterTM even more accessible to non-irrigation experts. This revolutionary product provides both instant leak detection and reaction to those leaks, which in turn protects expensive landscapes and conserves water. Additionally, the FG100 Flow Sensor affords end users with a better understanding of total water usage for their irrigation system.
The FG100 Flow Sensor can be paired with any of Rain Bird’s numerous controllers that support flow sensing, including the ESP-ME3 residential controller. As well, additional flow sensing features can be accessed through Rain Bird’s LNK2 WiFi Module. At the IA Show, the product competed against 19 other entries in the contest. Judges evaluated each product based on innovative qualities, increased or improved irrigation, water or energy efficiency, product reliability and durability, ease of use, cost benefits and time savings, design quality, impact on the industry, and product sustainability.
“The FG100 Flow Sensor is a result of extensive customer research and field testing,” says Candy Zunker, product manager. “Rain Bird worked very hard to develop a flow sensor that was as affordable and easy to use as a Rain Sensor, and we succeeded. We hope to see increased adoption of flow sensing, as studies have consistently shown that introducing a flow sensing device can save up to 25 percent of a systems water usage through leak detection and run time optimization. For 90 years, Rain Bird has been at the forefront of developing high-efficiency products to ensure the proper delivery and conservation of water. The FG100 Flow Sensor is just the latest addition to Rain Bird extensive flow sensor line and distinguished list of water conserving products. We are thrilled that the IA judges recognized this innovation.”
